the code didn't work... and I didn't even see anything that said, "use a merchandise certificate instead" place either... HELP!?

In the checkout, right above the line that says, "Promotion/Shipping Code", there is a line that says, "Click here to use a merchandise certificate instead." That is the only place where the code is valid, so that is probably why it didn't work for you. I am also not sure when this deal expires! Hope you figure it out!
